Attention participants from Thailand and the Philippines: Join YSEALI

The U.S. Department of State would like to inform you about an exciting new initiative in Southeast Asia—the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI).  Launched by President Obama in 2013, YSEALI seeks to create a cadre of young leaders throughout the ten ASEAN member countries: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The U.S. State Department is inviting youth aged 18-35 years old, who are citizens and residents of an ASEAN country to join YSEALI. This one-pager provides details on YSEALI, the benefits of becoming a member, and how to join.

In addition, YSEALI periodically holds grant competitions that award funds for projects implemented within Southeast Asia.  Stay up to date with breaking news on competitions by liking their Facebook page.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity.  Visit the YSEALI website for more information https://youngsoutheastasianleaders.state.gov/.

Route J1 Stops at YMCA in Estes Park, Colorado

Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) Robin Lerner visited Estes Park, Colorado on July 22. During her visit, she attended an international fair at YMCA of the Rockies.

"I spent my childhood attending YMCA after-school programs and YMCA summer camps, but I had never seen a “Y”, as they are sometimes called, quite like the one I recently visited on Route J1. The YMCA of the Rockies is nestled next to Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado. It is a family-friendly resort that is not only famous for its brand of recreation and proximity to world class hiking, but also for its J1 staff who come from almost every continent." – DAS Robin Lerner.

Read more about DAS Lerner's visit to Estes Park and view pictures from the international fair on the Route J1 blog.
